How to Play Plants vs Zombies 2
Plants vs Zombies 2 keeps the lane-defense formula of the original: zombies walk in from the right, you plant defenders on a 5x9 lawn and every plant costs sun. What changes is scale - each world brings its own zombies, its own terrain tricks and a new set of plants built to answer them.
Basic Gameplay
- Pick your seedschoose the plants you take into the level before it starts.
- Collect sunclick falling sun and the sun your Sunflowers make.
- Plantdrag a seed packet onto a lawn tile. Each plant has a cost and a recharge time.
- Use Plant Foodglowing green zombies drop Plant Food; drop it on a plant for a one-time super attack.
- Survive the wavesa flag marks each big wave. Clear the final wave to win the level and unlock the next.

Plant Food
Turns any plant into a screen-clearing burst for a few seconds: Peashooter fires a pea gatling, Wall-nut grows armor.
Worlds
Ancient Egypt tombstones, Pirate Seas planks, Wild West minecarts, Frostbite Caves ice and more - each changes how you plant.
Plant Levels
Plants level up as you play, gaining health and damage. Upgrade the ones your strategy relies on.
Power-Ups
Pinch, flick and zap zombies directly when a lane is about to break.
Strategy Tips
- Open with two columns of Sunflowers (or Twin Sunflowers once unlocked) - economy wins long levels.
- Save Plant Food for the flag waves instead of spending it the moment it drops.
- Read each world: tombstones in Egypt block straight shots, so bring lobbed plants like Cabbage-pult.
- In Pirate Seas, Spring Bean and Kernel-pult deal with Swashbuckler zombies landing mid-lawn.
- Put a Wall-nut or Tall-nut in front of your strongest shooters in lanes with Buckethead or Gargantuar zombies.

Plants vs Zombies 2: It's About Time was released by PopCap and EA in 2013 as a free-to-play mobile game. There has never been an official browser version. PvZ2 Gardendless is a fan-made, open-source remake that rewrites PvZ2 with web technologies (the Cocos engine), so it runs in any modern browser on PC, Mac, Chromebook and phones.
Your garden, plant levels and progress are saved in your browser's local storage - play in the same browser to keep them.
